U.S. Arab Chamber of Commerce Discussion
The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and the National U.S. - Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC) will co-host a roundtable discussion next Thursday, May 27th from 12 to 1:30 pm on business opportunites in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), with special emphasis on Iraq.
Guest speakers will include David Hamod, President & CEO of the National U.S. - Arab Chamber, and Naufal Alhassen, Commercial Counselor at the Embassy of Iraq in Washington, DC.
The MENA region is one of America's top export destinations in the world. Sales of U.S. goods and services totaled $63 billion in 2009, and U.S. exports are on track to grow nearly 20% this year to $75 billion - an all-time high. The Republic of Iraq is America's fourth largest export destination in the MENA region and one of the fastest growing markets in the world. Sales of U.S. goods and services to Iraq totaled $3 billion in 2009 and are expected to grow more than 75% in 2010 to $5.47 billion. The government of Iraq estimates that investment opportunites in Iraqi infrastructure projects will total $180 billion over the next four years.
This discussion welcomes leaders from the Greater Kansas City region representing large and small businesses, academic institutions, economic development agencies, and trade-related entities.
