The Capital Improvements Management Office (CIMO)The Capital Improvements Management Office (CIMO) is a new initiative to develop a city-wide capital improvement management division within the Office of the City Manager. CIMO is responsible for the coordination and expedited delivery of capital improvement projects in order to more efficiently and expeditiously meet the deferred maintenance and economic development needs of Kansas City, Missouri. An integrated team of Public Works, Water Services, Aviation, and Parks and Recreation staff, together with MWH Americas and Burns & McDonnell program managers/construction advisors, manage and work in the office.Through the improvements made to the project delivery system, CIMO will ensure: ยท Faster project start and delivery, Strategic coordination of all projects across departments, Centralized project monitoring, Improved and shared common processes, standards, methods, and systems, Proven best practices, performance measures and metrics, and management reporting Currently there are over 150 projects on CIMO's high priority project list. This list totals at more than $240 million and includes projects involving Fire Stations, Police Academy and Stations, Streetscapes, Bridges and Sanitary Sewers. CIMO will be a catalyst for future success in economic development, downtown revitalization, and local job growth.
