Andrews McMeel Universal (AMU) has been bringing you some of the biggest names in comic strips, books, calendars, columnists, and greeting cards for more than 40 years.  This quiet Kansas City company started off as a small, niche newspaper syndicate and has grown into the largest independent syndication and publishing company in the U.S.

Just like the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, Andrews McMeel cultivates and represents some of the biggest talent in the US.  Even if you don’t know AMU, you surely know the brands it represents including Calvin and Hobbes, Doonesbury, Garfield, Dear Abby, Roger Ebert and, most recently announced, Dilbert and Peanuts.  AMU also is an industry leader in cartoon, humor, gift and calendar publishing, including recent New York Times bestsellers Cake Wrecks, Big Nate, Bon Appetite Desserts, Bee & Me, and The Oatmeal’s 5 Very Good Reasons to Punch a Dolphin in the Mouth.

In 2009, AMU completely restored and moved into the historic Boley building, on 12th and Walnut.  On April 13th, they will open their doors to over 150 Chamber members.  Don’t forget your business cards to take advantage of this fantastic networking opportunity.
