Robert E. Rubin, Director and Chairman of the Executive Committee for Citigroup, Inc., and Chairman of the Board of the LISC, will give the keynote address at this year's Jake Mascotte Awards for Excellence in Community Development. The theme for the event this year is Getting Down to Business and it is scheduled for Tuesday, November 23, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kansas City, Mo. The Jake Mascotte Awards event is sponsored by the Kansas City Community Development Initiative.
The event will precede and complement the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner, scheduled later on the same day at the Hyatt. We encourage Chamber members to attend the awards program to hear Mr. Rubin speak and then go directly to the Annual Dinner reception.
Mr. Rubin, who served as Secretary of the Treasury under President Bill Clinton, is a leading advocate for improving economic development of distressed urban and rural areas. In the White House, he directed the activities of the National Economic Council and oversaw the Clinton Administration's domestic and international economic policymaking process.
In his remarks, Mr. Rubin will discuss the economy and the importance of business and civic leaders working to preserve and revitalize our urban communities.
At Citigroup, he participates in strategic, managerial and operation matters of the company. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Ford Motor Company and on the Board of Trustees of Mount Sinai-NYU Health. He has served on the boards of numerous other public, private and governmental entities.
