Name: Insight Kansas City
Date: October 31, 2006
Time: 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM CST
Event Description:

On Tuesday, October 31st, The Chamber's Insight Kansas City brings you a compelling look at the power and possibility of Kansas City life sciences research.  We're proud to present an expert overview of the issues confronting our scientific and business communities - news on new developments, what to expect as research continues and the potential legal barriers to bringing life-saving therapies from the laboratory into the marketplace.

We'll welcome Dr. David Albertini, Ph.D., Hall Professor of Molecular Medicine at Kansas University Medical Center.  He is currently a principal investigator at the KUMC Center for Reproductive Sciences.  Dr. Albertini has also worked at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, and earned his doctorate in cell biology from Harvard.

We're also giving a small business perspective with Dr. Nick Franano, M.D., Chief Scientific Officer of Proteon Theraputics.  A rising biotech star, Proteon recently raised $19 million in venture capital to support development of new products used to dilate veins and arteries - a key technology for the treatment of patients on dialysis, receiving chemotherapy or dealing with vascular disease.

This breakfast event as designed to be as interactive as possible, with a special emphasis on making the experts' knowledge available for your questions and comments.  Please join us for this timely and important event.
