Environment Committee Meeting

The Greater Kansas City Chamber's Environment Committee will meet on Tuesday, May 3rd, at 8:00 a.m. here in the Chamber's boardroom.

William A. Spratlin, Air, RCRA, and Toxics Division Director, will be our speaker. Below is his bio for those of you who are not familiar with him.

*William A. "Art" Spratlin Mr. Spratlin began his career with the Arkansas Pollution Control Commission as an Environmental Engineer Supervisor. He moved to the Environmental Protection Agency in 1970 where he has served in several managerial positions until his appointment as Director of the Air, RCRA, and Toxics Division.

Spratlin has received several awards at EPA, including its highest honor, the EPA Gold Medal, given for distinguished service of major significance to environmental improvement and public service. He has received the Pride in Public Service Award for Professional Excellence from the Kansas City Federal Executive Board. In 1995, the President of the United States recognized Mr. Spratlin as a Meritorious Executive for his accomplishments as a manager.

Mr. Spratlin is a member of the Air and Waste Management Association where he served as Technical Program Chairman for the 85th Annual Conference in Kansas and as a member of the association's Board of Directors from 1999-2004. As a Board member, he chaired the Finance Committee, served as Vice President from 1999-2001 and served as President in 2003. Mr. Spratlin served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Institute of Professional Environmental Practice from 1996-2002. As a trustee he chaired the Government Affairs Committee and the Environmental Intern Committee.

Spratlin earned a B.S. Degree and a M.S. degree in Civil Engineering both from the University of Arkansas. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and a Qualified Environmental Professional.
