Environment Committee

The Greater Kansas City Chamber's Environment committee will meet Tuesday, March 29nd, at 8:00 a.m. here in the Chamber's board room. The Air Quality working group is now merged with the Environment Committee so in addition to regular Environment Committee issues, we will continue to address air quality agenda items as well. Dr. Rex Archer, Executive Director of Health KCMO, will be in attendance to give a presentation on FEMA/Homeland Security. Dr. Archer is also President-elect of the National Association of County & City Health Official (NACCHO), is an acknowledged authority on civilian bio-defense with over 25 years in protecting the public's health. He has served as vice-president of NACCHO and was the founding chairperson of NACCHO's Bioterrorism and Emergency Preparedness Task Force that has been in operation for five years. Prior to his present position in Kansas City, Dr. Archer completed his medical degree with the University of Kansas, his General Preventive Medicine Public Health Residency and Masters in Public Health degree at the University of Michigan and is recognized as a Public Health Leadership Institute Scholar by UCLA/CDC. He has served as Physician in Charge - Employee Health Programs, Ford Motor Company and local and state health positions in Maryland. Gina Bowman will be present to discuss the Government Relations Agribusiness Missouri Ethanol Mandate. An update on the Ethanol Mandate issues in Missouri as well as a state by state comparison will be discussed. Missouri Bills: HB687: Requires all motor fuel sold in Missouri for use in gasoline-powered vehicles to contain 90% gasoline and 10% fuel ethanol HB703: Authorizes a tax credit for retailers of ethanol-blended gasoline. The Chamber validates parking for the 811 Main Garage, Commerce Garage located on 10th Street between Main and Walnut streets, or the new Tower Garage located between 9th and 10th on Walnut.
