-There are at least 155 life sciences companies in the Kansas City region.
-Kansas City hopes to generate $500 million in annual life sciences research expenditures in 10 years.
-That investment will support more than 20,000 jobs in this region.
-Kansas City's life sciences initiatives have led to increased national exposure and credibility which has attracted companies seeking relocation opportunities. Companies that have recently chosen to relocate or expand in the Kansas City region include: Celliance Corporation, Interveta, Inc., VasoGenix Pharmaceuticals, Bayer CropScience, McKesson Medical-Surgical, IVAX, Teva Neurosciences, JRH Biosciences, Beckloff Associates, Sanofi-Aventis and CaremarkRx.
-There has been a significant upward trend in life sciences research expenditures in the Kansas City region - from $104 million in 1999 to $240 million in 2004.
