Missouri River
This task force should contain a historical perspective of the river's importance to the city. This history then should expand into the various uses and issues the city and region faces with the river. Some current issues would include the political fight over the Master Manual which includes river flows for barge traffic, recreation, and wildlife issues. This task force could include a discussion about how and why our city does not have a real connection with the river, and explore why development is just starting on the River and what types of development are going forward. For example, why isn’t our river front property highly priced and in demand as it is in many cities? In addition to the economic impacts of the river such as how the region receives and uses the water and the dependency of power plants on the river.
