Linda Hall Library is the world's largest privately endowed research library specializing in science, engineering and technology that is open to the public. They are home to some of the oldest and rarest books with a collection of over one million volumes in their Rare Book Collection.

In 2006 the library completed a $20 million expansion and renovation project, which provided a total of 220,000 square feet and 32.5 miles of shelving. Also added during the renovation was a Cosmology Theater, that currently features ViewSpace programs, developed by the Space Telescope Institute.
