A member of Israel's Foreign Service since 1979, Barukh Binah has held various positions in diplomacy, research, policy planning, and media relations. Overseas posts included an appointment as Israel's Spokesman and Press Officer in New York (1985). In 1992, he was assigned to Washington, D.C., as Counselor for Congressional Affairs at the Embassy of Israel. He later became the Embassy's Minister-Counselor for Public Affairs. On August 24, 2005, he assumed his new responsibilities as Consul General of Israel to the Midwest, based in Chicago.
Barukh Binah is the highest ranking Israeli diplomat in our 11-state area. He holds degrees, with
honors, from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Haifa University. In 1998 he graduated from
Israel's National Defense College.
