Understanding the Aging Workforce
Presented by Steven Joiner, Nonprofit Connect
August 17, 2011
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

We are in the midst of an age revolution and businesses that understand this new life stage are poised to tap a vast talent pool.  Older workers are turning the traditional, stigmatized notions of 'age in the workplace' on their head; they are engaged, dedicated, talented, lifelong learners eager to share decades of wisdom & experience.  In order to succeed in engaging older workers, however, we need to understand the equally unique challenges facing this cohort:  the economic climate, the bursting of the housing bubble, and the 'sandwich' generation issues that, if addressed, create mutually beneficial workplace relationships.

Learning Objectives:
  • Learn about the new life stage and it's impact on society
  • Understanding the benefits of hiring and retaining older workers
  • Navigating the challenges and obstacles (real and perceived) that older workers face in today's workplace
