Stress Management & Your Brain
Research has revealed more in the last 15 years about how the brain functions than was discovered in the previous 100 years! Knowledge about how the brain works means we can live, work, create, and remember more effectively. Dr. Cottrell will discuss ways to keep your gray matter in top form and ideas for decreasing stress.
At the conclusion of the session, participants will:
Know the importance of diet, exercise, and sleep for keeping the brain fit
Have a greater appreciation of how the brain learns and remembers
Appreciate the role of experience in shaping the brain
Know the relation of stress to brain functioning
Learn some stress-busting techniques
Presented by Carolyn Cottrell, Webster University
Dr. Carolyn Cottrell is the regional director of Webster University's Kansas Metropolitan Campus and teaches undergraduate and graduate level classes in Educational Program Analysis, Curriculum Design, Stress Management, Methods of Teaching Adults, and Issues in Human Resources Development. In the last ten years, Dr. Cottrell has focused on applying brain research to all levels of teaching and to the workplace. She received her Ph.D. from St. Louis University where she concentrated on adult learners in higher education.
