Rogers Strickland owns The Chamber's 2002 Small Business of the Year, Strickland Construction. Since 1998, his company has donated more than 10 buildings and made several trips to a village in Guatemala. He's taken church groups, school groups, and corporate groups to the village to build, among other things, a medical center, community center and school. In 2001, his company introduced a policy allowing employees to go to Guatemala, get paid, and not lose any vacation time. It's unusual, but that's what The Chamber's Best Practices Tours are all about... learning the non-traditional employee practices that keep a workforce happy and productive.
On October 28 at 4:30 p.m., we'll tour Strickland Construction in Olathe, then hear from Glen Richardson, company president, about other innovative policies.
