In the spirit of "going green", here are some tips from some of our exhibiting companies. Denise Jensen with the American Lung Association recommends: - Use water-based cleaning products in your home
- Make sure that containers of household cleaners are tightly sealed to prevent volatile chemicals from evaporating into the air
- Avoid using spray products such as hairspray, bathroom cleaners, air freshners, antiperspirants, and insecticides. Many VOCs come from spray products used in your home
From Mike Fredholm of The Energy Savings Store: - Always work on making your home more efficient first, then add alternative energy systems such as solar photovoltaics!
- Missouri Botanical Garden released the results of a national survey that found nearly 75% of 18-34 year olds are more likely to visit an attraction with environmentally friendly practices. The Kansas City Star Dec. 30 2008
- Watch for the new $2/watt rebate from KCP&L for solar photovoltaic systems to arrive Jan. 1, 2009!
Charlotte Barksdale with LaserCycle Inc. says: - A simple way to help the environment is to ban Styrofoam tableware and plastic cutlery from the office. We stock china mugs and plates and the employees wash them in the sink.
- Another way to save on the amount of e-waste kept from the landfill is to purchase LaserCycle's new line of guaranteed zero-landfill ink and toner cartridges, called "grenk". Grenk (TM) incorporates new reuse materials, major environmental packaging improvements, recycling programs, a lifecycle story for each component, and even reporting information for our business customers that validates the exact amount of electronic waste recycled and kept from the landfill. Reporting also includes the cost savings versus purchasing OEM product.
